mindset for moms.

I recently downloaded a little e-book called “Mindset for Moms: from mundane to marvelous thinking in just 30 days

It’s gold! I’m just a few chapters in, but here are my favorite quotes so far. Go check it out.

Favorite quotes:

“Real issues absolutely must be dealt with. But there’s a difference between real issues and the normal ups and downs of daily emotions and moods. Choosing to ‘fake it’ works like a miracle drug to boost moms back to the bright side of life– the place where we long to hang out with our families.” (FAKE IT chapter)

“We invite beauty into our lives by living with dreams. But often we don’t realize that the now we currently live in represents dreams of yesterday fulfilled.” (WANT WHAT YOU HAVE chapter)

TED talk: The Power of Vulnerability

Have you heard of TED talks? My husband introduced me to them a while back. Their website describes them as “Riveting talks by remarkable people, free to the world.”

I want to share some TED talks I have enjoyed here occasionally with brief notes I’ve taken.

“The Power of Vulnerability” by Brene Brown.

What do these people who have a sense of belonging have in common?

1. Sense of courage:

The courage to be imperfect.

2. The compassion to be kind to themselves first; we can’t practice compassion with other people if we cannot first treat ourselves kindly.

3. Connection: they had connection as a result of authenticity.

They were willing to let go of who they thought they should be in order to be who they were.

Which you absolutely have to do in order to have connection.

4. Other thing- they fully embraced vulnerability.

They believed that what made them vulnerable…made them beautiful.

They talked about the willingness to say “I love you” first. The willingness to do something when there were not guarantees.

let’s get this party started.

And this is where it all goes down.

I love to collect good stuff, mostly in the form of words and images. So this is where you get to hear about it…the good, the best (in my opinion) and the awesomeness. I like to keep it practical, because what’s the point of a good idea if you can’t actually put in into practice, right? But then I’ll be the first to admit that life is quite messy, and I’m not about to pretend like I can tell you how to clean it up, only offer up what I’ve learned about bringing beauty into chaos…and making time to enjoy it, too.
